Production Supervisor

 

General Summary

The production supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day production operation of both the first and second shift teams. The production supervisor is responsible for monitoring and delegating tasks to ensure all required responsibilities are done on the production floor to meet the weekly schedule. This role will collaborate with many team members within the operations team including the production operators, quality control supervisor, quality assurance manager, environmental health and safety manager, maintenance manager, production planning team, and will report to the onsite plant manager. This job is currently available at the West Allis location and will transition to the Mount Pleasant location in late 2024/early 2025.

 

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  1. Prioritizes, schedules, and delegates work assignments to ensure all production activities and securing packaging of products meet customer specifications and company quality standards.
  2. Recommends and implement measures to improve production efficiencies, packaging methods, equipment performance, safety, and quality standards.
  3. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  4. Develops, initiates, supports, and complies with GMP guidelines and requirements in manufacturing products.
  5. Monitors packaging supplies inventory levels, recommend orders as needed.
  6. Oversees all required paperwork, reports, and documentation.
  7. Participates on cross-functional teams for the continuous on-going improvement of methods and processes.
  8. Continually reviews, recommends, and implements programs to comply with all State, Federal and local safety, and sanitation regulations.
  9. Ensures proper up-keep of equipment; address and resolve problems; initiate work orders for repairs.
  10. Coordinates and schedule preventative maintenance program.
  11. Develops and encourages the growth of employee’s skills through training and opportunities.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  1. Ability to read, write and speak English.
  2. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  3. Ability to make administrative, procedural, or employment-related decisions in a dynamic environment.
  4. Ability to communicate in a clear polite manner.
  5. Ability to communicate in oral and written form effectively and succinctly to all levels (operator to executive) of the organization as well as outside contractors.
  6. Possess working knowledge of continuous improvement principles and their application.
  7. Possess a working knowledge in Microsoft Office and SAP programs.
  8. May require domestic and/or international travel up to 10%. (Travel may increase up to 25% during transition to new production site.)
  9. These characteristics are normally acquired through a bachelor’s degree in a business or science discipline, and one to three years of supervisory experience.
  10. Food industry knowledge a plus

 

Working Conditions

Working environment is generally favorable. Work schedule Lighting, temperature and noise levels are adequate with occasional exposure to cold temperatures. Frequent entry into the production facility requires personal protective equipment to be worn at all times. This includes a lab coat, hair/beard net, safety glasses, and gloves. Work schedule will be during first shift hours (6 AM to 2:30 PM) with some occasional weekend work to oversee overtime production.  

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, keyboard and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
