National Account Manager - Natural Colors

You will be joining the National Accounts Sales Team with colleagues from different nationalities and working in multiple different locations across the world. We all chip in when and where it is needed, have a flat structure but high standards, enjoy a good laugh and a pragmatic and operational approach to supporting our sales agenda. What would your role look like?

Reporting to the Director of National Account Sales, this position will manage major direct accounts and is primarily responsible for the sale of natural colors to food and beverages customers on the West Coast of the US.  They are responsible for increasing profitable sales by developing current and prospect accounts into commercial sales. Responsible for developing multi-level contacts with key customers and supporting new product development efforts by collaborating with internal customer service, technical, marketing, operations and product management to deliver on customer expectations. 

 

Principal Duties And Responsibilities (* = Essential Functions)

  1. * Meets or exceeds sales budget targets on a year-to-year basis.
  2. * Secures existing business from regular customers and finds new business from prospective customers.
  3. * Negotiates contracts and other legal documents involving in-depth product, industry, pricing and competitive information. 
  4. * Formulates and recommends an in-depth account strategy for assigned territory based on customer needs and requirements and carries out as approved.
  5. * Generate sales leads and opportunities within assigned territory, as well as following up on leads to qualify prospects and convert prospects into customer
  6. Developing and executing key account plans for focused customers identifying areas of opportunity for growth
  7. Maintains multi-level contacts with key customers; keeps them informed of price trends, new products and new uses in the development of sales. 
  8. Supporting new product development efforts at targeted accounts, including generating ideas for new products from the field, working from product creation through manufacturing to product sales and delivery
  9. Provides timely reports and information as required by management.          

 

Who are we looking for?

  1. Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in roles of increasing responsibility in a commercial environment working with food and beverage manufacturers.  Roles includes: commercial sales, business development, account management, product marketing.  
  2. Previous experience in Food Ingredient Sales is mandatory.
  3. Possess good negotiation and follow-up skills.
  4. Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
  5. Ability to develop, plan, and implement short and long range goals.
  6. Must have technical skills to know the right questions to ask of customers and connect our products to customer needs.
  7. Must be a self-starter with drive and initiative and work with little supervision.
  8. Must have a passion for the food industry.
  9. Possess a working knowledge in Microsoft Office programs. 
  10. Ability to travel up to 50% of working time.
  11. These characteristics are normally acquired through a Bachelors degree in a scientific field, food technology or chemistry preferred, and 4-6 years of sales experience.
