General Summary

This position works under general supervision and is primarily responsible for processing sample requests, reviewing the correct and most efficient routing of the requests, and maintaining compliance with shipping regulations for various color samples. This position also serves as the general shipping coordinator for all departmental packages.

 

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  1. Retrieves and fills sample requests in a timely fashion.
  2. Maintains minimum color stock levels and reorders as needed.
  3. Follows shipping regulations for specific color formulations.
  4. Affixes GHS labels according to Safety Data Sheets for each color.
  5. Maintains inventory of color samples, rotates stock and discards product outside of shelf life.
  6. Maintains up to date training for shipping dangerous goods.
  7. Maintains and orders stock for general shipping materials.
  8. Provides requested production documentation via hard copy or digital attachment.
  9. Keeps account manager informed of delays in meeting deadlines through established channels.
  10. Maintains a clean work area.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  1. Ability to read, write and speak English.
  2. Ability to effectively communicate information to customers and vendors in a professional manner.
  3. Possess a working knowledge in Microsoft Office programs, Salesforce.com and SAP.
  4. These characteristics are normally acquired through a High School Diploma and one to two years of general office experience.

 

Working Conditions

Working environment is generally favorable.  Lighting, temperature and noise levels are adequate with occasional exposure to cold temperatures.  Personal Protective Equipment is required when working in the laboratory.  This includes a lab coat, and if necessary, safety glasses, dust mask or gloves. 

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk and hear.  The employee is regularly required to lift and/or move materials or equipment up to 25 lbs. and occasionally required to lift up to 50 lbs.  Use of hands to handle or touch objects, tools or controls is frequently required.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.  Employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and corrosive chemicals.
