US Plant Controller


GENERAL SUMMARY
This role is responsible for all business and financial controlling related to the operations of our US
production plants. The role is based at Oterra’s US headquarters in Milwaukee and reports to the
Finance Manager US in the same location – with a dotted line to the COO Finance business partner of
Oterra, based in Denmark.
 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Optimize procedures and manuals for financial reporting and planning for the production
site and contribute to a common framework across production sites
Reviewing and understanding the actual performance on all relevant KPIs for the production
sites compared to budgets and plans and engage with the site management team to
improve performance
Uncovering emerging risks and opportunities
Business analysis and cost control
Preparing monthly plant outlook, including deviation analysis to budget
Preparing timely and accurate financial management reporting for the plants (incl. KPI
reporting, analysis, and trends)
Identify and communicate risks and opportunities to Management team resulting from
analysis and based on this make proposals for correction and improvements
Analyze and provide guidance to the cost reduction initiatives at the plant
Preparing the annual budget and ensuring that it meets the targets provided by the senior
management team – as well as securing correct standard cost of the products
Supporting the operations team with physical inventory counts and ad hoc analysis
Work with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Procurement etc.) to correct / validate BoMs
and recipes
Use data mining techniques to determine inventory movements, and variances
Set annual cost center labor and overhead rates
Perform monthly, quarterly cost rolls
Research, explain and resolve purchase price variances, and material usage variance
Be part of team that analyzes Slow Moving and Obsolete inventory. Prepare reserve analysis
Complete month end and year closing processes
Perform other related duties as assigned

 

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

 

M.S. in finance, auditing, accounting or similar
Very good knowledge of accounting and corporate finance principles and procedures
Solid experience as cost accountant and/or plant controller with 5-10 years of experience
from manufacturing companies
Strong communication skills; clear, delicate, and explaining finance for non-finance people
and fluency in English
Superuser in MS Excel and solid SAP skills required
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and a structured approach to processes and
deadlines
Self-propelled and proactive team player with a “get things done” attitude
International experience, preferably from companies with global headquarters outside US
