Meet your new team!

We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Sales Manager to join our growing team. This is a remote position based on the East Coast, United States. You’ll join a dedicated team that drives aggressive company-wide growth by providing technical expertise and ensuring a strong customer presence. We focus on developing collaborative partnerships and leveraging our diverse ingredient portfolio to drive new product co-development with our customers and capture market share within the region.


What would you role look like?

As the Senior Sales Manager, you'll embody a motivated, self-starting and entrepreneurial spirit. This hunter role demands a focus on developing key accounts in the region combined with proactive new customer prospecting and adept scheduling of both in-person and virtual meetings to foster new business opportunities. Your primary customers would be multi-channel dietary supplement brands and contract manufacturers. Expect to embrace a dynamic environment, with travel comprising up to 50% of your time, ensuring an exciting blend of face-to-face interactions and virtual engagement in achieving our goals.


Duties and responsibilities:

  • Serve as technical subject matter expert for Akay Bioactives Ingredient portfolio and technologies to drive sales within the designated region.
  • Drive profitable growth through proactive prospecting and sales pipeline management, achieving regional sales targets via in-person and virtual meetings with new and existing customers
  • Use a broad range of market research methods, analytical tools, and databases to uncover and qualify potential customers.
  • Partner with fellow commercial organization partners (sales, marketing, product management) and internal stakeholders (R&D, Quality) to maximize the customer experience.
  • Efficiently manage and report sales objectives, KPIs, and CRM data.
  • Deliver financial reports and updated sales pipeline to management for informed decision-making.
  • Identify new business opportunities and market shifts, providing strategic input for product strategy and positioning.
  • Engage in trade shows and industry events to generate leads and gather market insights.

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate for this role is someone with a strong background in sales, specifically in the health and nutrition industry. The candidate will have an existing network of decision makers in the industry and is comfortable engaging with various stakeholders including PhDs, R&D professionals, product developers, and purchasing managers. They should possess exceptional skills in proactive prospecting and sales pipeline management. This individual should also thrive in a dynamic environment, where they can demonstrate their entrepreneurial spirit.


Experience and Skills Required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, nutrition, life sciences or related majors
  • 5+ years of experience in technical sales with key accounts in the nutraceutical industry
  • Existing network and relationships with various stakeholders and decision makers in the nutraceutical industry.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and influence internal and external audiences, using both oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the dietary supplement markets
  • Capacity to work independently and be a self-starter
  • Driven to achieve on revenue goals and strategic company and personal objectives
  • Required travel as needed up to 50%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in selling botanical extracts and/or nutraceutical ingredients to diverse channels in the dietary supplement industry including natural & specialty, mass market, practitioner, MLM and contract manufactures.
  • Experience using Salesforce or other CRM software and a formalized sales process.
  • Clear written and oral communication skills; ability to effectively understand and articulate science based products with customer key stakeholders.
