Technical Expert

General Summary

The Technical Expert plays a pivotal role in shaping Oterra’s commercial and innovation success. This highly impactful position serves as a strategic technical partner to key customers, driving complex solution development, enabling high-value sales opportunities, and strengthening Oterra’s position as an industry leader. The Technical Expert will work at the intersection of R&D, application science, sales, and innovation by translating customer needs into actionable solutions, accelerating product adoption, and influencing the future of Oterra’s portfolio.

 

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain technical relationship with customers/partners to endure strong industry connections and solidify the company’s’ position as a trusted advisor by identifying these customers core technical needs, building strong relations and partner with the customer and the global organization collaboratively, guiding the customer to the best solution for them and Oterra, support new product development and conversion projects.
  • Secure technical briefs to R&D/application teams on specific projects where no standard solution is available.
  • Drive the commercialization of strategically important and complex sales projects with important customers securing cross functional collaboration with key stakeholders such as R&D, application, sourcing, production, product management, marketing, documentation, regulatory and quality teams
  • Create and execute project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements with emphasis on bringing immediate closure to open items and advancing the project. Identifies critical project success milestones, barriers and decision points to meet customer timelines and secure sufficient reporting to the stakeholder
  • Provide concept development leadership for major inspiration sessions to important customers
  • Be a strong partner to the sales organization. Support the sales team and sales related activities in the region and support globally as well as if needed
  • Support/drive development of regionalized proactive sales tools and new technical / application tools for sales & customers
  • Identify business opportunities for NPD and customizations in the region and input to the global organization via strategy cycle or when applicable
  • Work alongside global organization to think about future trends and ideas, and work to implement these into the business.
  • Take an active part of securing scaling of expertise together with the application team. Ensuring both cross-country and cross-divisional harmonization and standardization to improve customer satisfaction, internal ability to educate people and reuse of data and developed sales tools

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  1. Minimum a bachelor’s degree (or similar) ideally in the science field of chemistry, food sciences , engineering
  2. Min of 10 years of food industry experience.
  3. Strong interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills
  4. High drive and positive can-do-attitude
  5. Commercial mindset, strong interest in keeping up to date with market dynamics and trends identifying business opportunities for the organization
  6. Ability to work in a local and global cross-functional environments requiring stakeholder management skills and capable of create trusting relationships
  7. Ability to travel up to 60% of working time
  8. Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written
  9. Capable of creative, conceptual thinking for developing inspiring sales tools

 

Working Conditions

Working environment is generally favorable and in an office setting   Lighting, temperature and noise levels are adequate.  Generally sedentary work but may require standing and walking for up to 60% of work time.  On-call work may be required.

 

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, keyboard and occasionally lift up to 10 lbs.  Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
