Sourcing Developer

About the Role: 

We are looking for a motivated and analytical Sourcing Developer to join our global sourcing team and lead regional efforts for securing food ingredient supply chains with a strong focus on agronomic raw materials. Based in the Mount Pleasant WI, this role will play a key part in building robust sourcing networks through direct farmer collaboration, upstream engagement, and rigorous data-driven analysis to identify and deliver business opportunities. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Supplier & Farmer Engagement: 
    Identify and build relationships with strategic suppliers and farmers across the USA, supporting long-term sourcing partnerships for selected agronomic materials and ingredients (roots, functional ingredients e.g. starches, gums etc.). 
  • Opportunity Scouting & Business Case Development: 
    Proactively scout & mapping new sourcing opportunities and assess them through structured business case, considering cost, quality, reliability and scalability. Deliver clear recommendations to support commercial and operational decision-making. 
  • Sourcing Strategy Implementation: 
    Support the execution of regional sourcing strategies aligned with global priorities and future growth plans, with emphasis on supply security and commercial value. 
  • Agronomic & Operational Collaboration: 
    Work with farmers, agronomists, and operational teams to align crop cycles, plan volumes, and mitigate production and delivery risks. 
  • Data-Driven Analysis & Reporting: 
    Monitor commodity markets, seasonal patterns, and cost drivers to provide actionable insights and enable data-backed negotiation and planning. 
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: 
    Interface with internal teams (e.g., R&D, Quality, Planning) to ensure seamless alignment of sourcing plans with product requirements and manufacturing needs. 
  • Contracting & Negotiation: 
    Support the negotiation and contracting process, ensuring clarity on commercial terms, supply volumes, and delivery expectations. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field. 
  • 3–5 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or agronomy—preferably within the food ingredients sector. 
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in building business cases and analyzing sourcing data. 
  • Practical understanding of US agricultural supply chains and farmer engagement. 
  • Self-starter mindset with strong interpersonal and project management skills. 
  • Proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools; experience with ERP systems is a plus. 
  • Willingness to travel across US sourcing regions as needed.

Working Conditions

Working environment is generally favorable.  Lighting, temperature and noise levels are adequate with occasional exposure to cold temperatures.  Personal Protective Equipment is required when working in the laboratory.  This includes a lab coat, and if necessary, safety glasses, dust mask or gloves.  When working in the production plant, a hair/beard net, safety glasses and safety shoes are required and GLP/GMP guidelines must be followed.
The job in hybrid/onsite in Mt. Pleasant, WI and Travel up to 50% of working time is required.
