EH&S Regional Manager

General Summary

Responsible for providing leadership in the development of EH&S strategy and initiatives, standardization, technical solutions, behavioral expectations, and processes and procedures to be deployed by addressing three objectives of the EHS OpEx Maturity Model – Mindset, Behavior, Risk Reduction and Compliance Management Systems.

 

Principal Duties And Responsibilities 

  1. Manage and measure EHS performance and support portfolio leaders, research engineering and Facility Operating / Management Teams in addressing key EH&S issues and appropriately utilizing Lean principles to deliver intended business results.
  2. Implement and maintain EHS policies and safe work practices and programs associated with all phases of Occupational Health and Safety Proactive, Prevention and Environmental compliance.
  3. Perform daily, weekly, monthly EH&S inspections and/or audits to identify and correct potential hazards, develop CAPA structure and to ensure that safe-work practices are being followed.
  4. Improve overall EH&S culture by advocating transparency through behavioral based safety strategy, continuous improvement, 8-Disciplines, and Technical Systemic Root Cause.  
  5. Lead the development, review, and emergency programs implementation.
  6. Interface with regulatory and public authorities in the EHS sector.
  7. Supervises industrial hygiene programs.
  8. Prioritize major hazards and risks at the site, and ensure action is taken to mitigate or eliminate the risks.
  9. Lead investigations for EHS and environmental incidents and participate in their review.
  10. Implement, support, and guide local safety committees.
  11. Participate in the process of developing the annual budget with the respective managers and corporate managers.
  12. Partner with the global EHS leaders to implement corporate requirements.
  13. Lead the implementation and maintenance of EHS management systems.
  14. Lead the development, evaluation, and revision of EHS training, sharing opportunities and observational programs. 
  15. Lead the coordination and implementation of EHS CapEx projects.
  16. Work with local engineering and maintenance resources to resolve EHS issues.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Safety and/or Health, Masters’ degree.
  2. Excellent communication skills both verbally and written.
  3. 5 years plants EH&S experience, preferably having worked in food processing plants
  4. Multiple location EH&S experience
  5. Strong analytical skills
  6. Strong written and verbal communication skills
  7. Certification & Licenses Preferred: General Industry EH&S Specialist Certifications, CPR, First-aid, AED, etc.

 

Knowledge of ISO 450001, ISO 14001.

Computer skills: Microsoft Office intermediate level, SAP intermediate level.

 

Working Conditions

Working environment is generally favorable and split between office and manufacturing setting. Lighting, temperature, and noise levels are adequate.  Generally sedentary work but may require standing and walking for up to 50% of work time.  Travel up to 30% of working time required. On-call work may be required.

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, keyboard and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.  Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
