The team for you to join

You will be joining the Innovation & Application team with colleagues from different nationalities and working in multiple locations around the world.

 

Oterra develops natural colors and functional food ingredients based on concentrates of natural fruits and vegetables, such as sweet potato, grape skin, carrot and beet. The products are mainly used for applications related to the food and beverage industry such as dairy and fruit preparations, confectionery, ice cream, ready meals and beverages. At the cutting edge of technology, we integrate science and nature to design natural dyes and high-performance functional plant extracts.

What would your role look like?

Within the Innovation department of Oterra, located in France at Prades le lez, you will join the “New Products" team as a Pigment Scientist. Your main responsibilities will be to:

 

  • Ensure state of the art knowledge within the field of natural sources, technologies for colouring purposes and possess fully operational level of skills in natural colors
  • Ensure the identification/validation/implementation of new raw materials according to regulations and guidelines in cooperation with other Oterra teams
  • Plan, coordinate and perform experiments using appropriate methodology and equipment, both in relation todevelopment work and application testings
  • Conduct lab & pilot plant trials and all related analytics
  • Set up robust protocols to validate stability and industrial feasibility of all developed colors including associated analytical tools
  • Ensure successful implementation of new recipes & processes from lab to upper scale
  • Be source of proposal for new developments

 

Who are we looking for?

You are a Food Scientist and have a university degree in Chemical engineering or similar, having preferably a Ph.D. degree and 5-8 years of applied work experience.

 

Further you will bring in the following skills and experience: 

 

  • Skilled at food ingredients, practical experience with Natural Colors is an advantage
  • Deep knowledge of analytical technics and strong chemical background
  • Skilled within extraction technology and other relevant technologies
  • Good English, both spoken and written
  • Dynamic & proactive, rigorous, curious and critical thinking
  • You can adjust your communication style according to the audience and can relate well to stakeholders from other functions and cultures
