QA Assistant

General Summary

This position complete duties assigned by quality managers, such as providing support during customer audits, training new staff, investing customer complaints, identifying faults throughout the production process, and adhering to all QA requirements.

 

Principal Duties And Responsibilities 

 

  • Help prepare for third party and customer audits.

  • Work at direction of Quality Manager to fulfill customer quality documentation requests.

  • Work with Quality Manager to ensure Marshfield facility adheres to all food safety and food security policies.

  • Act as back up for laboratory QC testing and troubleshooting

  • Work with Quality Manager to ensure all employee training is completed.

  • Ensure outbound shipments are signed and accurate according to customer purchase order.

  • Quality Control – responsibility for the following

    • Acting as liaison with pest control company

    • Ensure that microbiological results are received for all products requiring microbiological testing.

    • Ensure all activities associated with environmental monitoring are completed.

    • Conduct monthly GMP plant audits.

    • Ensure customer returns and complaints are fully investigated.

    • Conduct HACCP related activities per quality calendar

    • HACCP team member for the facility

  • All other duties as requested.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  1. Ability to read, write and speak English.

  2. Ability to read and comprehend documents such as standard operating procedures, equipment manuals, and blend formulas.

  3. Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from colleagues, other departments and occasionally auditors.

  4. Ability to interpret testing results and follow SOP document for appropriate action.

  5. Skilled in Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel as well as database programs.

  6. These characteristics are normally acquired through a Bachelors Degree in a scientific field or at least six months experience in a laboratory environment.

 

Working Conditions

Working environment is generally favorable. Lighting, temperature and noise levels are adequate with occasional exposure to cold temperatures. Personal Protective Equipment is required at all times. This includes a lab coat, hair/beard net, safety glasses, and gloves. A dust mask is required when working with powdered media substances. Weekend work may be required.

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to lift and/or move materials or equipment up to 25 lbs. Frequent use of hands to finger, handle or touch objects, tools or controls. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
