Field Technician Cochineal

MAIN PURPOSE

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agronomy. This role involves managing data, developing and documenting performance metrics, developing and implementing best agricultural practices to ensure high levels of performance. You will work closely with local farmers in Arequipa, Oterra production side in Peru and international Sourcing Team.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build knowledge on the crop, and document it from a production and cost point of view.
• Monitoring of production plans in different locations, as well as production activities according to the best practiced recommended.
• Provide feedback to farmers on best agronomic practices and share them among all producers. Recommend technical solutions in crop management according to local problems.
• Prepare monthly reports on areas, farmer engagement, production development and forecast. 
• Search for new potential farmer to partner with Oterra. 
• Supervise cleaning standards for cochineal on a periodical basis.  
• Coordinate with farmers deliveries and relevant documentation when required. 
• Analize cost structure and propose cost-saving and cost-reduction opportunities and build a culture of long-term savings and productivity on farming activities. 
• Liaise with local stakeholders (e.g. Supply Chain, Finance, Quality, Finance, Production, R&D, etc.) to ensure their engagement and alignment with cochineal sourcing.

• MICROSOFT OFFICE    Intermediate
• SAP    (If it's a requirement, indicate specific modules)

COMPETENCES    

• Experience in agricultural extension and farm management. 
• Desirable but not mandatory previous experience in cochineal production
• Skill to interact with farmers, negotiate and influnence them.
• Ability to structure multiple variables and provide recomendations  based on relationships found.
