We are looking for a talented Assistant Breeding Technician  to join our Breeding team. What would your role look like?

 

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agronomy and proven experience in crop production, with a particular focus on sweet potato. This position is responsible for the supervision and management of seed fields, including vine cutting for seed production and related field activities.

The role involves coordinating logistics from agricultural fields to nurseries for large-scale multiplication, as well as overseeing the delivery of seed to farmers. The candidate will work closely with internal company teams and external partners.

This is a field-based position, with the majority of work conducted in the Cañete area.

  • Visit sweet potato seed fields in Cañete to assess their suitability for vine cutting for seed production.
  • Provide technical feedback to internal teams to support seed propagation planning.
  • Recommend and/or implement appropriate crop management practices based on field conditions.
  • Confirm or adjust vine-cutting schedules according to agronomic criteria.
  • Supervise vine cutting operations in seed fields in line with the established schedule.
  • Coordinate and oversee field personnel assigned to vine cutting activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the nature and scope of the position.

Technical Key Points:

  • Technical degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Production, or a related field
  • 2–5 years of experience in similar positions
  • Experience in sweet potato cultivation
  • Experience in seed production (desirable but not mandatory)
  • Strong ability to interact effectively with farmers and specialized professionals
  • Valid driver’s license (A1 or higher)
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Travel expectations: sporadic travel
