Your mains responsibilities:

This role is responsible for organizing, planning and coordinating all programs and activities that ensure and sustain the health and safety of our employees, and that limit the environmental impact in accordance with applicable laws and guidelines. The Safety and Environment Manager is at the interface between employees, suppliers, and authorities to ensure the compliance of the Site with the laws and directives in force. Additionally, the Safety and Environment Manager is responsible for coaching and supporting site leadership in creating and safeguarding a sustainable safety culture at site based on visible and active leadership.

 

 

Main activities:

REGULATORY:

  • Updates and evolves the unique document of the Site.
  • Ensures compliance with the prefectural decree on the site and manages the resulting actions.
  • Responsible for the proper functioning of the wastewater treatment plant. Main contact with the contracted operator.
  • Ensures sites legal permits are active.

ORGANIZATIONAL:

  • Develops, and implements, the procedures and the safety and environmental policy of the Site.
  • Develops, and coordinates, the training required by Oterra and the laws and directives in force.
  • Manages and provides safety training for new employees, verifies certifications, and informs of certifications to be obtained.
  • Provides guidance and coaching to site leadership in behavioral based safety and visible leadership on the shopfloor.

RISK REDUCTION:

  • Defines safety and environmental preventive measures and procedures to help reduce risks
  • Limits any risk of accident, by monitoring the appropriate means of prevention, and corrective actions, in case of malfunction noted with the Site Director.
  • Conducts the search for the causes of incidents and manages their resolution
  • Manages safety and environmental communications within the institution
  • Prevents, informs, controls, analyzes, and advises vis-à-vis all risk situations observed and this on the entire activity of the Site.

CSR:

  • Manages the recycling policy.
  • Contact point for audits (Sedex and SMETA). Organizes periodic audits on safety and the environment. Generates reports and ensures that deviations encountered are resolved.
  • Maintains and updates the site risk matrix and ensures control of the major hazards at site

MANAGEMENT:

  • Responsible for the spreading operator of the wastewater treatment plant
  • Functional manager of the security relay on the Prades Le Lez site
  • Represents the security and environment department to the representative bodies.
  • Helps animate the global network of Safety and Environment Leaders
  • Supports and drives the implementation of the corporate EHS strategy, standards, and policies.
  • Responsible for reporting relevant corporate EHS KPI’s and incidents.
  • Supports processes and initiatives to track and manage worker health and workplace illnesses.
